1. International non-profit Cultural Association
The national associations which subscribe to the Founding Charter of New Acropolis and its guiding principles form part of an international organization which has its headquarters in Brussels (O.I.N.A.). Its associative structure ensures respect for the diversity, autonomy and initiative of each of its member associations.
The way it operates allows it complete freedom of action, independent of all political, religious or financial interests. It combines efforts and wills, provides specific conditions for inner and outer growth and encourages local initiatives which promote civic responsibility and voluntary Service to the community.
Each member association is responsible to the authorities of its own country and abides by the international regulations governing associations.
The organization currently comprises 35 member associations, 21 representatives and is present in 54 countries
2. Functioning
Under its constitution, the Board of Directors of the International Association is formed by a representative from each of the affiliated associations. Its most qualified members are then elected to form part of the International Executive Board, which has the task of coordinating the implementation of resolutions passed at each Annual General Meeting.
Delia Steinberg Guzmán has been President of the International Organization since 1992. In 2005, Beatriz Diez-Canseco Bustamante was appointed Co-President.
3. Funding
The International Association operates on a minimal budget which is used to cover basic running costs.
Each country makes a proportional contribution to this budget and manages its own resources autonomously, in accordance with the legislation in force.
In 2005 this budget did not exceed $20.000
